A dramaturg's lot is to read plays. They unearth forgotten ones and work to discover, create or refine new ones. They may translate or adapt plays in other languages. They may also be part of a team that is devising a new work. A dramaturgs analyses, edits, researches, advises and assists.
PlayWriting Australia is committed to high standards in dramaturgy in Australia. We maintain a comprehensive database of dramaturgs available to work with theatre companies or writers and creative teams on programming, repertoire selection, script development, rehearsal methodology and research.
