Applications are now open for the Max Afford Playwrights’ Award for young writers of stage, TV or film plays.
Initiated by the late Thelma May Afford in memory of her husband, the Max Afford Playwrights’ Award provides writers with the incentive to improve their creative writing and aims to increase the public’s appreciation of Australian theatre.
In 2014, the award value has increased to $30,000, including a $15,000 cash prize plus a fortnight of creative development through Playwriting Australia’s National Script Workshop. The selected play will be announced in August 2014.
