Playwriting Australia

PostScript

A national resource for the promotion of new Australian plays

PostScript offers unaffiliated Australian playwrights a strategic outlet for the promotion of unproduced new work to Australia's leading theatre companies and producers.

Many of the country's theatre companies lack the resources to respond in-house to the volume of unsolicited submissions they receive for reading, assessment or production. PostScript provides a solution to this problem. This program was developed by PlayWriting Australia with the input of over 25 of the country's leading theatre companies.

UPDATE! POSTSCRIPT IS NOW ACCEPTING NEW SUBMISSIONS: Download a submission cover sheet here

Australian playwrights are invited to submit full-length, unproduced scripts to PlayWriting Australia who will solicit assessments of the work from senior readers at two of the participating theatre companies, subsequently making those details available to all participating companies as well as providing indicative feedback to the writer.

·     Playwrights are entitled to submit two scripts to PostScript in any one calendar year.

·     New drafts of works previously submitted to PostScript will only be accepted if an assessor has requested further drafts of the play as part of their assessment.

PostScript offers writers the assurance that your script will be read by senior representatives within 3-4 months of receipt and that details of your work will become available to representatives of all participating companies.

Theatre companies are assured of access to all of the country's available new plays and that the responsibility to respond to these works is efficiently and effectively fulfilled.

Submissions to PostScript are accepted throughout the year. Simply download and complete the PostScript submission cover sheet and email a pdf of your play to postscript@pwa.org.au. If you do not have access to email, hard copy submissions may be sent to PostScript, PlayWriting Australia, PO Box 3035Redfern NSW 2016.
