A Melbourne-based writer and theatre-maker, Declan’s plays include Pompeii LA and Moth and have been produced at the Malthouse in Melbourne, Sydney Opera House and Brisbane Powerhouse. Declan’s work is subversive, formally restless and sharply ambitious.
In 2010, PlayWriting Australia developed his play Pompeii L.A. at the National Script Workshop and the script has been programmed as part of Malthouse Theatre’s 2012 mainstage season for production in November, directed by Matthew Lutton.
Most recently, Declan’s newest play won the for 2012 and will receive a creative development through PlayWriting Australia in August 2012. The script How to cut out a wart – learn how to do it yourself… has also been shortlisted for the Griffin Award 2012 and was presented in Berlin as part of MKA’s
play-reading festival of new Australian work in May 2012.
