Playwright Exchange

a 3-week research and development exchange for playwrights in New York

In conjunction with New York's famed New Dramatists, this programme awards Australian playwrights a three-week period of research and development in New York city. The exchange provides return travel to New York, accommodation at New Dramatists’ Manhattan headquarters, per diems, a script workshop including presentation of a rehearsed reading of your work to a local New York audience, and the opportunity to engage with New York’s vibrant theatre scene.

Applications are invited from playwrights with a minimum of two professionally produced works. The winning application is selected by New Dramatists, New York from a shortlist prepared by PlayWriting Australia.

By reciprocal arrangement PlayWriting Australia will select and host the winning American writer in Australia, presenting a rehearsed reading of their winning play for local audiences.
