National Script Workshop
an intensive residential studio for the creative development of new works
The 2-week residential Workshop programme provides writers with the resources to progress to the next stage of creative development, without the expectation of an immediate performance outcome or the need to produce a performance-ready draft.
Eight writers are invited to develop a new work in its early stages of creative development in an intensive studio environment with directors, dramaturgs and an ensemble of actors.
The Workshop takes place annually in June/July and also features:
a public programme, delivering professional development outcomes to local artists and exploring issues in local theatre-making, and
a graduate programme offering young playwrights, directors and dramaturgs the opportunity to work alongside our senior company on their own creative development.
Submissions for the Workshop are invited annually in March from any interested writer and are assessed by a panel of experienced readers. There are no application or participation fees. Theatre companies are invited to propose projects for participation.
