Advocacy
making playwriting more accessible, available and visible
outreach
To develop the best in new writing for the theatre we seek to partner with locally based organisations to encourage writers from all sections of society to tell their stories.
In partnership with theatre companies and their local communities, PlayWriting Australia can help provide access to the best theatre people and create a safe, creative learning environment. We are looking to work with targeted groups whether they be from non-English speaking backgrounds, young offenders or people not in education, employment or training.

community development
We want to encourage communities to take ownership of their local theatre companies, engage with their artists and take pride in Australian theatre. By supporting Local Writer Groups PlayWriting Australia hopes to empower artists to look within their own communities for support and by working with local libraries we hope to create a new enthusiasm and enhanced awareness of Australian theatre.
international market development
PlayWriting Australia's International Officer has the task of promoting Australian writing for performance to overseas markets, brokering links between Australians and their international counterparts and advocating for a greater representation of Australian work in international repertoire.
By developing opportunities for the presentation of Australian plays overseas, we seek to increase the viability and sustainability of Australian playwrights' practice.
